Saints Spikefest

Spikefest setup:

South Hills Catholic Academy 4th Annual Spikefest Varsity B Girls Volleyball Tournament

• Date: Saturday, October 5, 2024
• Location: Saint Anne's Gym, 4040 Willow Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15234
• Entry: Open to the first 6 teams
• Fee: $150.00 per team
• Concessions: Hot food and snacks available all day
• Format: Pool play followed by seeded bracket play
• Eligibility: Varsity “B” teams (the sole Varsity team from schools with only one, or the 2nd/3rd teams from schools with multiple Varsity teams)
• Door Prizes & Serving Competition: Each player will receive one raffle ticket and prizes will be pulled prior to the times Serving Competition

Spikefest rules:

• Diocese of Pittsburgh Girls Volleyball game rules apply.
• Due to the tight schedule, we may limit warmup time.
• Teams do not change sides between sets.
• There will be a 3rd set only if necessary.
• Each non-deciding set will be won by the team that first scores 25 points with a minimum 2-point advantage (no scoring cap). If it is necessary to have a 3rd deciding set, it will be won by the team that first scores 15 points with a minimum 2-point advantage (no scoring cap).
• Immediately after Pool play there will be a Serving Contest, Group Picture, and a reciting of the Diocesan Prayer.

Tiebreakers within each Pool

• If 2 teams from the same pool are tied:
• 1st Tiebreaker: Head-to-head match result decides the order of finish.



If 3 teams from the same pool are tied:

• 1st Tiebreaker: Number of game wins each team had against teams in the Pool.
• 2nd Tiebreaker: Point differential each team had against teams in the Pool.
• 3rd Tiebreaker: Coin flip

The SHCA Athletic Association reserves the right to change these rules, playoff formats and tiebreakers if necessary.
